Over deze workshop
“Polyrhythm is the simultaneous use of two or more conflicting rhythms, that are not readily perceived as deriving from one another, or as simple manifestations of the same meter. The rhythmic conflict may be the basis of an entire piece of music (cross-rhythm), or a momentary disruption. (Wikipedia)
Polyrhythm has its roots in African music, but nowadays we can find it everywhere. Even in Flamenco. (…) My starting point are some of the basic Greek rythms and their variations, combined with the flamenco rythmic structure. Flamenco dancers can learn how they can create different and complicated music motifs on their “zapateados”, palmeros can adapt working with more than 2 rythms and musicians can discover a different way to create and interpret. The result of the workshop might be the creation of a new type of classes where teachers and students can interact and create at the same moment.”
